Castle Hotel in Zdikov / Bohemian Forest

Have you ever slept at a Castle Hotel? And have you ever participated in a knight feast, for dinner? This and much more are possible if you stay at the Castle Hotel in Zdikov / Bohemian Forest. My evenings and nights there felt like an enormous Travel back in Time, but on the other side with fast WiFi that was available all over. The combination of old and new, of wellness and good food is done very well at Castle Hotel in Zdikov, making me want to stay there again soon!

Zdikov is located in the Bohemian Forest in the Czech Republic, 147 km away from Prague and 30 km from the German border to Bavaria. Zdikov is a rather tiny Village with little less than 1,700 inhabitants. One of the main sights in Zdikov is Castle Zdikov, which is nowadays a Hotel, a real Castle Hotel. Castle Zdikov was remodelled and expanded in the 19th Century to a Gothic Mansion by Counts Thun and Hohenstein. Since another renovation in 1996, the Castle Hotel in Zdikov has 30 single- and double rooms and a wellness area.

My favourite at Chateau Hotel Zdíkov was the Knight´s meal in the castle cellars. The regular price per Person is 540 KCZ (20€) and find below what’s included:

Knight’s Meal in the Castle Cellars of Castle Hotel in Zdikov

Welcome drink: Honey wine (mead)
Wild pâté, lard, smoked meat, black bread
Bohemian cabbage soup (available for Vegetarians as well)
Chicken from the Reine (chicken, duck) with mashed potatoes (Ravioli for Vegetarians)
Spanferkl and pork, sauce, dumplings
Dessert

The knight’s meal is organized for at least 8 people and is an Entertainment- and Food-Highlight. Pictures of it, and my Hotel Room, can be found below. The Breakfast Buffet the other Day offered fresh fruit, granola, juices, a Coffee Machine, and a selection of cold meats and cheeses and the fresh croissants were particularly delicious.
