Germania Flight Review to Palma de Mallorca – Trip Report

Germania Flight Review Palma de Mallorca JoyDellaVita

Germania is a german Airline operating in the low-cost segment on touristic Routes such as Mallorca, Madeira, Antalya and more. Recently I had my first flight with Germania to Palma de Mallorca and I enjoyed it so much! Compared to other budget-Airlines you receive so much service and hospitality, it’s actually unfortunate that they do not have more Flights to other Cities.

As the Flight from Friedrichshafen to Mallorca was boarding at 6 am, on a Sunday, I took advantage of Pre-Evening Check-In. To avoid having to arrive at the Airport by 4 in the morning I went to FDH Airport between 6 and 8pm the evening before and dropped my bag off. As Germania offers so Online Check-In you really have to go to their Counter, even if you travel with hand luggage only. The fee for this pre-evening service is 5€ per Person, which is quite fair in my opinion. The maximum weight for checked-in luggage is 20 kg, Hand-luggage is limited to a weight of 6 kg and dimensions of 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm, plus another smaller bag for your notebook or a handbag.

Arriving at my departure Airport was super convenient on the day of departure, as I already had the Ticket, my hand luggage only and nothing else to worry about. Admittedly my backpack was a little full as I forgot a few things to pack in my suit case.. like another Shirt and Shorts to change before checking into my Hotel Room.

The Boeing 737-700 is well known to me, as this aircraft is preferably used by low-cost airlines such as RyanAir or SunExpress. When boarding the Aircraft there were some free magazines (Gala & Brigitte) and a Newspaper available, a Service you don’t even get in SWISS or Lufthansa Economy Class. This immediately boosted my mood, as well as the nice music they were playing while everyone was looking for their seat and sitting down. The Flight took off on time and after some time they started with the Service. Passengers could choose from a Sandwich with ham or cheese and hot and cold drinks. I went for the cheese sandwich with a hot tea and orange juice. In the meantime, they had screens with flight information and travel related movies playing and a music playlist with current music. To enjoy the sound you should bring your own headphones to plug them into your seat, nothing for wireless AirPods 😉 Besides the complimentary service you can, for sure, buy other drinks and snacks like chocolate bars or beer.

This short 2 hour Flight to Palma de Mallorca Airport was definitely one of my favorite ones, free (german) magazines, complimentary Drinks and Sandwiches and friendly service. I will definitely fly again with Germania, the next time maybe to Funchal or Reykjavik.
