Castelfalfi is a little village in the middle of Tuscany. It might look like a regular Italian town, but it’s all part of Toscana Resort Castelfalfi by Hotel Group TUI Blue. An excellent Golf Course, own vineyards and olive trees for fully own produced Olive Oil, Restaurants (Il Rosmarino, La Roca di Castelfalfi) and Hotel La Tabaccaia. A 4 Star Hotel, built in a former tobacco drying barn, renovated with traditional and warm materials. There are only 31 rooms available in total, for sure they are all equipped with every necessity and the views from the rooms can reach for kilometres.
Staying at Hotel La Tabaccaia Castelfalfi
As I stayed at Castelfalfi during Peugeot Drone Film Festival I didn’t have much time to enjoy my Room and the Hotel. Ideally located during the afternoon the warm sunlight was brightening up the public living room area, with its beautifully restored olive wood parquet and furniture in equally warm colours. As there are just very few rooms and guests the interactions with the staff were always super friendly and they even remembered my name, have you ever stayed at a hotel with such personal character? La Tabaccaia is definitely a Luxury Boutique Hotel!
My ‘Classica’ Room is 23 sqm big and, as with every room, features a Minibar, Safe, Air Conditioning, 32″ LCD TV with satellite channels and a rain shower in the bathroom. The wardrobe was quite spacious and besides an armchair for chilling the room had a working table, with a separate chair, and, my personal highlight, two balconies. You could enter one balcony from the bathroom, and one with another table and two chairs, from the main room. Again, have you ever stayed at a hotel with two balconies? In the morning, I was able to enjoy a pinkish sunrise, while some fog was still sitting in a smaller valley nearby. As mentioned, I could not enjoy everything at La Tabaccia Hotel at Toscana Resort Castelfalfi. I missed their Intercontinental Breakfast, the “La Tabaccaia” lounge bar (open until midnight, though…), both their fitness room and sauna, the outdoor swimming area, a 27-hole golf course (the biggest in Tuscany!) as well as activities such as horseback riding, cooking classes (oh crap…) or wine tastings. What I did was have a buffet lunch at Il Rosmarino Restaurant and later Dinner at La Roca di Castelfalfi. If you go there, try their very own olive oil and ask for the spicy one, if you like to spice up your pasta or pizza.
One day, I have to go back! The area is so peaceful, charming and typically Italian. Right now they are building another Hotel, 5 Star Il Castelfalfi, that is due to open in March 2017 next to La Tabaccaia. What the area is also famous for, besides wine and olives, is Truffle. Truffle hunting and later that day enjoying own wines and dishes with own produced olive oil for dinner, this sounds like a perfect plan.
