Authentic Italian Dinner at Molto Italian Canberra

Molto Italian Canberra

Whenever Italians eat, it’s always a celebration. A festival of enjoying delicious food and coming together as friends and family. This exactly is the aim of Molto Italian, a restaurant opened just back in early 2016 at the beautiful Eastlake Parade in Kingston/Canberra. “With the aesthetic appeal of a modern seaside trattoria, Molto boasts sleek interiors, high ceilings, an open kitchen and bar and a feature wood fire pizza oven.” is how they describe themselves on their website, and I couldn’t say it any better. After a warm and sunny summer day with nothing but blue skies we went to have Dinner at Molto Italian Restaurant Canberra, which turned out to be a truly authentic Italian Dinner, or Cena. Soon after arriving and taking a seat right by the open skeiling-high windows, the Restaurant got quite busy and created such a charming atmosphere while sitting right by the water on such a delightful summer evening.

Food-wise there is so much to chose from at Molto Italian Canberra. Most dishes are old Italian classics, but often with a modern twist. Check out their menu online here to get a glimpse of their meals, additionally, there are more daily specials available, always depending on what’s offered fresh at the market. To start the evening we ordered a few appetizers to share on the table, therefore everyone could enjoy something of anything. My personal favourites were the Rosemary Tuscan Flatbread with sea salt and Sicilian extra virgin olive oil (the Tuscan and Sicilian olive oils are among the best in Italy!), the Polpette di Melanzane e Scamorza in a Sugo di Pomodoro as well as the fresh figs. What a tasty start to this authentic Italian Dinner at Molto Italian Canberra!
Without any hesitations I knew what my main dish was going to be, my favourite dish with origins in Rome, Spaghetti Cacio e Pepe (check out my recipe for the traditional roman version). As an eye-catcher and highlight, the Spaghetti Cacio e Pepe is served at the table straight out of a Pecorino cheese wheel. Wow! I unquestionably enjoyed my cheesy noodles, however unfortunately no other version can compare to the Cacio e Pepe at Roscioli in Rome (yet).
A few sips of the local Nick O’Leary 2017 Riesling wine and good chats later, it was time to finish this Italian celebration of food and good life with a Tiramisu, again to share with everyone. Nonna’s Tiramisu is made in-house and even though the biscuits were soaked a bit too long in Liqueur for my opinion, the creams were so rich and good, I still dream of it! Even though you might have indulged all evening in delicious food, don’t miss out on the amazing flavour of the Tiramisu at Molto Italian Canberra!
