The Votes are counted, the new Queen is elected: Congratulations to Regina Mack for winning the Title Hop Queen and being the new representative of the aroma hops from Tettnang. Among her, the two princesses, Hop Princesses, will travel to many events and breweries in Germany and all over the world.
Tettnang, a region located close to Lake Constance in southern Germany, is famous for its cultivation of aromatic hops that give beers around the world a special and delicious taste. Tettnang is the second-largest hop growing area in Germany and besides the big “Beerfestival” (German: Hopfenwandertag) taking place every two years, each in the years in between the ‘Ball of the Hop Queen’ (German: Hopfenball) is celebrated. The candidates are representing themselves during a presentation of tasks they were given, the still officiating Highnesses are saying goodbye with a theatre performance and then, finally, the solemn coronation. The Queen and the two Princesses are each in charge for two years up from today and only local girls/woman can apply.
Besides Regina Mack as the Queen, the two Princesses are Sarah Hillebrand and Ann-Kathrin Heine.
For sure they will spend the whole day at the upcoming Beerfestival in Tettnang, on August 7th, 2016 in Tettnang. And I’ll be there as well, tasting as many beer and craft beer sorts as possible and celebrating “500 years of the German Beer Purity Law” at it’s best while enjoying some views on Lake Constance and the hop gardens.
