Breakfast at W Hotel Barcelona – BRAVO24 Restaurant by Carles Abellán

Some prefer sports to start good into a new day, but I rather enjoy a delicious breakfast. Breakfast at W Hotel Barcelona is offered in two Restaurants, or as Room Service brought to your room. Now in the warmer months, I definitely prefer having breakfast at W’s BRAVO24 Restaurant, outside in the garden area by the pool. BRAVO24 is one of currently 8 restaurants by Michelin Star awarded chef Carles Abellán. Yes, you can enjoy breakfast at W Barcelona in a Restaurant by a Michelin Chef. Besides Lunch (1:30 – 4 pm) and Dinner (8 – 11:30 pm) with Tapas, Tasting Menus or a la carte dining experiences, Breakfast is served as a Buffet. If not already included in your Hotel Room Rate, or for external guests, the price per adult is 33€.

The Breakfast Buffet at BRAVO24 Restaurant is situated around a counter area, close to the entrance of the Restaurant. According to their website, you will find ‘over 130 items’ to choose from. Local and international classics, all beautifully lined up and always restocked. What I definitely miss at the W Barcelona’s breakfast Buffet are typical Spanish Churros with hot chocolate or more options for vegetarians, like more than just one type of cheese. Luckily, I can get my Churro fix just right off La Rambla at Artisa in the centre of Barcelona. And instead of the Churros, you will find pancakes, doughnuts, pastries with apple or chocolate filling, croissants and waffles. Of course, Nutella and various other sweet spreads are available, as well as cereals, different types of milk, fresh fruit, yoghurts and warm dishes such as scrambled eggs or room-temperature Frittata with either potatoes or zucchini. Besides one cheese, Manchego, there are 5 different cold cuts and a limited range of bread. The offer is definitely ranging wide, offering something or everything, but in particular, there is nothing I already dream about the night before. On the other side, as modern W Barcelona is, you won’t find ginger shots, acai bowls or smoothies (but some juices).

Unfortunately, there is no public coffee machine so you have to rely on the service personnel to pour the black energising liquid into the cups on your tables. If they are ignoring you, and you don’t want to shout loudly so they recognise you, you will not have a hot drink… I heard you can also order hot dishes from an a la carte breakfast menu, I never had the possibility to do so as I never even got coffee. If you’re not a hotel guest but still want to enjoy breakfast there, it’s recommended to reserve a table in advance (contact details below). If you’re interested, I already wrote about other places to have breakfast in Barcelona.
But now I’m curious, what are the dishes that cannot be missed at a hotel breakfast buffet, according to you?
