Holidays at Robinson Club Cala Serena Majorca

Robinson Club Cala Serena Majorca Travel Blog JoyDellaVita

A perfect place to enjoy some late-summer days is Robinson Club Cala Serena on Majorca. Robinson Club is a premium Brand by TUI/Thomson Holidays and they have several properties all, from the Portuguese Algarve to Arosa in Switzerland to Agadir in Morocco. Robinson Club Cala Serena on Majorca is located in Cala d’Or in the south-east of the Balearic Island. First built in 1975, and later renovations till 2003, the Club offers space for up to 600 people. Already the second I arrived at the Club I was greeted super friendly and was immediately offered to call everyone by their first name. Due to my early flight, and pre-noon arrival to Majorca, I was already able to check-in, leave my luggage at the reception, and enjoy everything the Robinson Club has to offer. Late breakfast is offered until 11 am, getting changed in the Spa area, going for a swim, or walking and exploring the area, as I did.

Once my Room was ready for Check-In I was walking over to my House with my hand luggage only, and my suitcase was brought to my room later. Close to the water, there are all the public areas, such as the Restaurants, Shops, Spa- and Fitness Area, Swimming Pools and the Beach. More up the hill there are all the houses situated, to separate the Rooms from eventual noises during late evening events, so guests can enjoy their Holidays at Robinson Club Cala Serena Majorca even more. The Houses are all two-storied and there are each just a few Rooms. My House was called Felanitx, named after a Town on Majorca.
The Room I slept in was DZE1 Category, an Economy Double Room. The Rooms are on the ground floor with a terrace and approximately 28 m² big. They have a tiled floor, a double bed, satellite TV incl. international channels and radio, free of charge WiFi, a Telephone, mini-fridge, a safe, Air conditioning / heating and in the bathroom a shower and toilet, a large mirror, a make-up mirror and hairdryer. The rooms of this category are for max 2 people, of course, they also offer newly built rooms and suites (check out a picture here, as there are no room pictures over on thomson.co.uk).

What I found a bit confusing is what’s all included in the “Full board made by Robinson“. Full board is no “All Inclusive“, so you have to pay attention to what you order and attend. Included are buffets for breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, as well as (depending on what time of the day) beverages such as water, beer, soft drinks or coffee specialities. Also, there is a Bistro-Line in the afternoon with a smaller buffet and Cakes in the afternoon. They celebrate a Gala Dinner once a week and a white-themed evening where you’re invited/requested to wear all white to Dinner. To find out about the upcoming Events taking place at Robinson Club Cala Serena Majorca I can highly recommend downloading the ROBINSON Daily App on your smartphone, to find out more about planned activities at the Club, to be prepared to pack the right clothes.
As the mini-fridge in the room is empty you can either order the drinks you want, like 0,3l bottles of water for 3€ each. Or, walk over to the SPAR Supermarket that is close to the Hotel any buy a 5l canister of water for 1,40€, and other drinks, fruit snacks you want.
On one evening the Restaurant was so busy and full, that I could not find any Table or Chair, and left without eating anything, that I made a reservation for a Table the next Day. They told me that the reservation is including a bottle of wine, and later on the table handing me over a wine List with prices… I ordered a glass of José Pariente Sauvignon Blanc to my custom-made Penne as the vegetarian options on a Balearic evening were very very limited.

What I enjoyed most about my stay at Robinson Club Cala Serena on Majorca is how green everything is, flowers and plants are all over. The City Center of Cala d’Or is about 2.5 km away, a nice occasion for a little longer walk. As Cala Serena is about 60km from Palma airport you need about one hour by Taxi, or maybe a little longer by shuttle bus. As I went to Robinson Club Cala Serena all by myself, and I was probably the youngest besides small kids, I would definitely recommend going there with at least someone else, or a smaller group of friends.
