Maritim Hotel Hanover Airport (HAJ)

The Hotel with the best location at Hanover Airport is Maritim Airport Hotel. After leaving the Airport Terminal it is just a 1-minute walk and you reach the Hotel entrance, of course under a roof to protect you from Rain or wind. Arriving at the Hotel could not be easier, or leaving in a rush for your departing plane could not be more convenient. Of course, public transport, S-Bahn, to Hanover City Center or the Fair is as well in a close walking distance. The Interior of the Lobby with its super high ceiling is simply stunning, but even more in the evening and night when all the lights go on. You can see it in a Picture below. Check-In to Maritim Hotel Hanover Airport went fast, but the elevators to the Rooms are the absolute opposite. You have to activate the elevators with your Room Card, and that was just never working for me. On the Airport-Side of the Hotel there is one elevator, on the other side are several ones. During peak-times, it’s quite possible to wait some minutes, in addition to several dozen tries to make the room key work.

Anyway, there are 527 Rooms at Maritim Hotel Hanover Airport, including Conference Suites. I had one of more than 200 “Classic Single Rooms” with a view on a Lake. For Airport view you should book a Comfort Room, more Info on the available Rooms on their website. My single room was equipped with a 1,40 m x 2,00 m Queen size Bed, Air Condition, a Flat-Screen TV, a Minibar as well as a bathroom with a bathtub and hairdryer. There is a Telekom WiFi all over the Hotel, which disconnected me every 10 minutes, even though I already have a HotSpot Pass for Telekom Networks. Anyway, you can connect to the Internet via LAN in your Rooms, if you have a suitable cable. Overall the Interior is neither modern nor chic, it’s rather traditional and classic with lots of dark wood and gold accents.

Among the 2 Restaurants and a Bar in the Lobby area, I only had breakfast at the Hotel once. The Restaurant is quite spacious but as they had parts of it separated there weren’t that many available tables. The Table I got was, possibly, at a bad location as it was close to where the kitchen entrance was. The staff was ‘hiding‘ there, talking about when to go on smoking breaks, making jokes and everything. During my 25 minutes at the Restaurant I was never offered Coffee, and in the beginning, they even wanted to empty the Table, even though I had my Phone and Hotel Card laying visibly beside the cutlery. The breakfast selection was varied from Fruits to Croissants to fresh eggs on request.

Due to the convenient Location at Hanover Airport HAJ I enjoyed my stay at Maritim Airport Hotel Hanover, but the next time I will enjoy my Breakfast at McDonald’s inside the public area of the Terminal.
