MyBurger LowCarb Veggie Burger at McDonalds Austria

McDonalds Austria is pioneering the ‘MyBurger’ Concept of creating your own McDonalds Burger in Europe. Months ago I heard about MyBurger in the US, and some time ago it was launched in Austria as well. Because who doesn’t want to customise a Burger and eat exactly what you desire? MyBurger allows you to choose various Ingredients and toppings, and pay exactly for that. Do you want extra Sauce on your Burger or 3 portions of crispy Bacon? No problem!
To order your very own customised MyBurger at McDonalds Austria, you have to order on your own at a CheckOut Kiosk. They are not yet available at every Store, but I added a Picture with the Locations below for you. To check the exact addresses out, click on the link below to McD’s Austrian website.
At the CheckOut Kiosk, you have to select the ‘MyBurger’ Category on the left and can start customising your Burger. As I wanted to try something new, I had a LowCarb Burger at McDonalds. Low Carb is referring to the Bread Buns, and so they are replaced with Salad Leaves. After making everything a Menu with large fries and a large Softdrink, I paid cashless with a Card and went to the Pick-Up Location. Alternatively you can, of course, pay with cash at the Counter. But, the MyBurger has to be created at the special Gadget inside the Store.

As a vegetarian, you have only one option. Even though there are two veggie patties available. An ‘Emmentaler Patty’ made out of Cheese (as a second patty only) and a ‘Veggie Patty’ out of protein. Otherwise, there is a Beef Patty and a breaded Chicken Patty available. Among all the available Ingredients and toppings I went for the breaded Veggie Patty, Lollo Bionda Salad, Red Onions and the iconic Big Mac Sauce. If desired you can top your Burger with Guacamole, roasted onions, Bacon, Tortilla Chips and more. An overall overview can be found on McD Austria’s website.

Eating the bread-less MyBurger LowCarb Veggie Burger at McDonalds Austria was quite challenging. There were more prominent and smaller Lollo Bionda Salad leaves, actually not my favourite kind of green salad, which made it just so hard to eat. And to enjoy it. I was more focused on keeping the Big Mac Sauce somewhere inside ‘the Burger’ than on enjoying the Meal itself. To eat it somehow correctly, I ended up having only a few salad leaves around my Veggie Patty with the Sauce. The Onions were long fallen.

In theory, I like the MyBurger Concept McDonald’s is establishing in Austria (and hopefully soon in other countries as well!). But, you can only choose the ingredients, not how they are placed in a vertical direction on the Burger. If I’d, for example, select the Sandwich Sauce and Big Mac Sauce it is possible that the McDonalds Staff is placing them on top of each other, and not one Sauce underneath the Patty and another one on the other Side. My wish would be a ‘MyBurger Version 2’ where you can place all the ingredients the way you want them. Oh, and the next time, I will again have a proper Burger with a Bread Bun.

To read more, in the past, I already tried MyVeggie in Italy, Veggie Clubhouse Burger in Germany and Vegi Mac in Switzerland.
