Skinny Primavera Pizza at Zizzi Edinburgh

You are craving a delicious Pizza but fear the calories? Then hurry to Zizzi and try a Skinny Pizza with just 550 kcal each – maximum taste but lesser calories, a perfect combination. After walking up and down Edinburgh City Centre I was definitely craving something hearty for Lunch and came right across Italian Restaurant Zizzi. With dozens and dozens of branches all across the UK I already stumbled across their Restaurants in London and Manchester, but now finally visited one of their places for the first time in Edinburgh. With alone 3 Restaurants in the Capital City of Scotland, I visited the Restaurant close to Edinburgh Castle on Roxburgh Court.

A bit hidden Zizzi Edinburgh Roxburgh Court can only be entered by either climbing or going downstairs. Thanks to the hilly location on Castle Hill you are rewarded with a nice view of the old Town from some tables. On a Saturday afternoon in January, the restaurant wasn’t very crowded, so I could easily get a table without a reservation. As I checked out the menu online, I already knew what I wanted. The ‘Very Berry Burst‘ is a non-alcoholic drink for £3.50 with a raspberry, blueberry & acai berry blend, lemonade & fresh limes. And as the main dish a ‘Skinny Pizza’ made out of a wholemeal, white & spelt base, served with an Italian naked slaw. My Skinny Pizza Primavera for £9.95 was topped with Goats’ cheese, roasted aubergine, artichokes, peppers, slow-roasted tomatoes, olives & fresh oregano.

The service was friendly and my orders arrived soon at my Table. For a price of almost 10 Pounds, I was expecting a regular wheel-sized pizza but got a bit disappointed. The Skinny Pizza by Zizzi is rather small and for comparison probably not much bigger than a larger grown man’s hand, or not much bigger than an iPad Mini. If you’re starving it would be rather snack-sized, so sharing it with someone before your Pasta Dish might be acceptable. But due to the small size, it now completely apprehends why this Pizza has only 550 kcal. What changed my opinion again were the Toppings. The Skinny Pizza is richly loaded with vegetables and plenty of goats’ cheese. I don’t think that I have ever had a Pizza with Goat’s Cheese and I will definitely try it with my own homemade Pizza! All in all, the Pizza was good, the Verry Berry Burst Drink refreshing and the staff nice. Only the value of the small pizza lacked a bit in my opinion.
Have you ever eaten at Zizzi before, or even had a Skinny Pizza, what was your opinion?
