The Hampshire Hotel Amsterdam – Theatre District | Review

The Hampshire Hotel Amsterdam

The Hampshire Hotel Amsterdam is located in the City of Amsterdam, in the theatre district. It is a three-star hotel. During my recent stay I stayed one night at the Hampshire Hotel Amsterdam and when I first came to the Hotel, at around midday, my room wasn’t finished yet. Well, what to do with all your Luggage now? The Hotel offers a locked Locker Room where I could deposit my baggage and could go exploring the City. After returning back to the Hotel at 5 pm the Room was ready and I could immediately go to my room in the first floor, room 122. All the floors can be reached by elevator, which is not that big but for one person plus luggage, it was enough. More than two to three people with luggage could be tight.
As in most Hotel also at the Hampshire Hotel Amsterdam, you open your hotel room with a plastic card. It worked the first time, nothing unusual, and I entered the single room. The room wasn’t quite spacey but for one person and for one night okay. After taking these first Pictures with everything untouched I opened the closet to take out the luggage stand and placed my suitcase on it. With it open it was already a bit hard for me to walk easily in the room, without touching it. But as the Internet wasn’t working anyway, which is free, but it would be even more worthy if it’d be working at all, I didn’t need to sit at the Table. The Hampshire Hotel Amsterdam only offers breakfast, for 9 euro per person and day, but there are machines with snacks and drinks near the reception in the breakfast area.
The Hotel isn’t the newest overall, but they are constantly constructing it; like painting the reception area during my stay. When the room was already okay the bathroom was rather old. You could clearly see that most of the interior must be at least 10 years or older. Everything was working though but I didn’t want to touch things I don’t necessarily need.
Breakfast is served every day from 7:30 to 10 am and when I went around 8 am there were just a few other people around. The offered breakfast is not plentiful, but sufficient. There was one sort of toast, one bread and some sweet yeast-risen pastry and one sort of cheese, one ham, two sorts butter (salted and unsalted), honey and marmalade and apples and kiwi. They also offered hard-boiled eggs and cooked beans. As an addition to the complimentary coffee machine, where you can enjoy hot drinks like a cappuccino, hot chocolate or hot water for tea all the time during your stay, they also offered two different types of juice and water with ice cubes. As said, the breakfast buffet is not overwhelming, but sufficient.

All in all, I can recommend a stay at the Hampshire Hotel Amsterdam if you are looking for a hotel that is central and near the Vodenlpark, the Casino and in the Theatre District. according to their website hotel room prices start at around 118 euros at Hampshire Hotel Amsterdam. A big minus was definitely the not-working WiFi during all my stay, and the woman at the reception wasn’t able to do more than to tell the problem their IT, rather than something about this problem immediately.
