If you ever travel to Stuttgart in southern Germany, make sure to have plenty of time as there is so much to explore. For automobile enthusiasts, there is the Mercedes-Benz Museum or the Porsche Museum, as both companies have their headquarters close to Stuttgart, for art enthusiasts there are galleries and theatres and for families, there is the Wilhelma Zoo. And each so much more. However due to my limited time in Stuttgart, I stayed near the City Center and the Central Station and explored the area around. In total, I had around 5 hours and I tried to explore and see as much as possible, see here now my Travel Diary of what I did in 300 minutes in Stuttgart.
To start southernmost, and walk all the way up north, I took a U-Bahn Train and started at the Station “Charlottenplatz“. Many lines are connecting to this station, for the up-to-date time schedule I can highly recommend the DB Bahn Smartphone App. Walking from Charlottenplatz to the market hall Markthalle Stuttgart I already passed my Lunch Spot, the Grand Cafe Planie. As the market hall has several entrances you can barely miss to walk in, and at least have a look. Very close there is Breuninger located. Breuninger is one of Germany’s biggest Shopping Stores, offering mainly clothes and Accessories in the mid-to-upper price range. The first thing I saw when entering Breuninger in Stuttgart was the Celiné store. Celiné Bags are iconic and almost IT-Bags, but they are just so damn expensive. The Price of just one handbag would be more than 4.000 euros! All around Breuninger, you can find several other luxury shops and more expensive stores, like Louis Vuitton as well as some other Shops, Cafés and Restaurants. Or like a Bakery selling these huge Meringues in several tastes. As it was already afternoon I had a Tarte Flambee at Grand Cafe Planie for Lunch.
After, and again before, Shopping Time it was Time for some Sightseeing. As I’m absolutely not afraid of walking I walked back towards the Train Station, passing the Schlossplatz with the New Castle and the Lake. At least I can’t remember, but I think I’ve never gone to this area of Stuttgart before. I imagined it as very pretty and nice, but.. it was not as Chic as I thought. Cars parking inside the Castle and the area around the Lake looked kinda of dreary and with a Police Car passing not very inviting. At least the yellow leaves and the ducks made everything a little nicer.
Later I followed the B27 for about one kilometre to the Europaviertel. I could have also taken the Underground to “Stadtbibliothek“, I already wrote about Stuttgart’s Municipal Library, but it is just one station from the main train station so I rather walk and enjoy Stuttgart. Milaneo is a big Shopping Center with Shops of almost every brand. Stay tuned as I will publish another Article, focused on where to go Shopping in Stuttgart. To rest a little in between window shopping I had a Cappuccino and two Profilerol at the Segafredo Café inside the Shopping Center – definitely recommendable!
The Time was running ing so I took another U-Bahn back to the main station to catch my regional train back home. You get a similar train ticket in Bavaria and in the Allgäu area for Baden-Württemberg as well. This “Baden-Württemberg Ticket” can be bought for 1 to 5 adults, including the possibility to use any public transport in Stuttgart, and other Cities in Baden-Württemberg.
