If you want to sleep like a royalty in Baden-Baden there are two Hotel options for you, one of them is Dorint Hotel Maison Messmer Baden-Baden. The 5 Star Hotel is located right next to all the main buildings and sights, as well as the Casino, the Theatre and the Kurhaus. A Gambling-cation, a luxurious wellness vacation or just for a City Trip, Dorint Maison Messmer is perfect for everyone.
Already when entering Dorint Hotel Maison Messmer in Baden-Baden you can feel the luxurious vintage chic. For Check-In there is enough staff around, to reduce your waiting times. Check-In is usually possible up from 3 pm, and you have to leave your Room again by 12 noon. In total there are 152 rooms, all are non-smoking rooms. If needed, they have 5 allergic rooms and 1 disabled room available. You can reach your Room by one of two elevators, that were always fast during my previous 4 stays. This time I had, again, a Standard Room, but with a phenomenal view. There are Rooms that face a rather quiet area, and this time straight towards Kurhaus Baden-Baden. During my visit the SWR3 New Pop Festival was taking place in the City, therefore I was able to enjoy many unplugged concerts just by opening my terrace window. Speaking of a terrace, my room was situated right above the entrance and therefore very spacious. Standard Rooms at Dorint Maison Messmer in Baden-Baden are 24 m² big, not comparable to Maritim Hafenhotel in Rheinsberg, and are, as the rest of the Hotel, furnished in decent colors with lots of darker colored wood. The Room features a double bed, minibar, working desk with chair, two lounge chairs, and a TV. The closet is spacious and bathrobes are hanging in the room for free, as the Spa Area is complimentary. A Bottle of Water at Room Temperature is complimentary for every Room as well.
There are three Restaurants and a Fireside Bar ‘Kambinbar’ at Dorint Maison Messmer. At the JB Messmer, I had Dinner, overlooking the Kurpark again.
The Service was very attentive and I had the ‘homemade Tagliatelle with sautéed yellow boletus in herb cream & caramelized chili pumpkin’ for 20,90€ and a side salad as a starter for 8,50€ with cherry tomatoes and croutons. The Tagliatelle were outstandingly delicious, especially in combination with the chili pumpkin.
Breakfast is served right nearby the JB Messmer Restaurant, at the Brasserie. On Weekdays it’s served from 7 am to 10:30 am, on Saturdays until 12 noon and on Sundays and public holidays even until 2 pm. There is a varied breakfast buffet, special dishes can be ordered on request at the Table. I ordered an Omelet with Cheese and Herbs, and a Waffle with Fruit. You can find Pictures of it at the End. After having the first bites of my Omelet I noticed some bacon pieces and collected even more while eating. Unfortunately the staff totally over-reacted, after I asked what Bacon has to do in my Omelette and if this might be someone else’s dish. I was not offered a second Omelet but were rudely offered to have a look at what she ordered in the kitchen. Definitely not a pleasant way to start a day…
All in all, it was another nice stay at Dorint Hotel Maison Messmer in Baden-Baden, in south-western Germany. Besides the not fast, but complimentary, WiFi, and the staff that is not (yet) on 5-star Level, I can recommend the Hotel. The Hotel is definitely not modern or fancy, but as Baden-Baden is known as a city of silent luxury, it fits perfectly for this clientele.
