Where to get delicious Mövenpick ice cream in Lugano? Straight at the main train station! After a long train ride, especially in summer, you need something to refresh. Instead of buying a cold drink, why not indulging in ice-cream? Especially as Lugano is located sooo close to Italy, at least one portion of ice cream should be “selbstverständlich”. If you’re leaving Lugano main train station through the stairs to the lake-side, and not immediately climb the stairs down to the city, you will leave the station at the station forecourt. Right to the left you will find a small stand, especially now in the summer months. Situated in the shadow they are selling delicious Mövenpick ice cream. Either in a waffle or in a cup, the ice is sold per portion. For the ideal Summer-Sun-Gelato-Feeling, I have, of course, chosen to enjoy my Mövenpick ice cream in a waffle. After a first shock about the hefty price of 7 CHF per scoop of ice cream in a waffle, especially as 7 CHF is about 6 euros, the price soon made sense, as I received two scoops of ice cream in a thick and delicious waffle. The 6 euros somehow got adequate, for high quality, almost luxurious, ice cream by Mövenpick, in Switzerland sold at a train station. Luckily they also sold my favourite ice cream flavour, Maple Walnut with multiple big pieces of walnuts. It’s just sooo good! If you don’t want to enjoy your gelato while walking, I’d recommend walking over the small square to the steps, and to sit down to indulge in the ice cream while enjoying a nice first view of Lugano. What a beautiful oasis, in combination with delicious ice cream, what else to wish for? Can you imagine a better start to a weekend getaway / quick holiday?
