View from the Prague Castle

Prague Castle (Czech: Pražský hrad) is a castle complex in Prague, overlooking many parts of the city. It was built in the 9th century and was the seat of power for kings of Bohemia, Holy Roman emperors, and nowadays of presidents of Czechoslovakia. Whenever you see a flag on top of the castle it means that the reigning President is in the House. Prague Castle is even listed by the Guinness Book of Records as the largest ancient castle in the world as it occupies an area of almost 70,000 m2. From there you will find several spots for a good view of the City.

View from Petřín Lookout Tower

When I first discovered the Petřín Lookout Tower, I thought I’d look at the top of a miniature version of the iconic Parisian Eiffel Tower. The 63.5-meter-tall steel-framework tower is located on hill Petřín. It’s usually open from 10 am and in the evening between 6 pm and 10 pm, depending on the season. The entrance fee is 120 CZK for adults and 65 CZK for kids aged 6 to 15 and seniors over 65 years.

View from Old Town Hall Tower at the Old Town Square

The Old Town Hall is located right at the Old town Square. You can’t miss it because of it’s medieval astronomical clock that is located there since 1410 – it’s the oldest one in the world that is still working! But besides watching this show you can go up the Tower to have some beautiful views on the old town of Prague and its surroundings. The Tower is open on Mondays from 11 am to 10 pm and Tuesday to Sundays from 9 am to 10 pm. The standard admission for adults is 120 Kč, reduced for Kids aged 6 to 15 and seniors over 65 years 70 Kč.

View from Žižkov Television Tower

TV Towers are also always a great opportunity to see a city from above. Prague’s Žižkov TV Tower is located in the area of Prague 3 and besides an Observatory, the Restaurant, Bar, Café and Garden Restaurant offer very nice views on Prague as well. And, what’s really unique, inside the Tower there is also “One Room Hotel” located. A Hotel that has just one single room available, 70m above the ground. You can read more about it, and book your room, on their homepage.
