Rossfeld Panoramastrasse unquestionably has to be on your To Visit List in Berchtesgaden. The panoramic street, which basically is Panoramastrasse translated to English, does not only offer nice views, the Route itself is very easy and nice to drive and within no matter of time, you will reach a height over 1600 m above sea level, offering scenic views in every possible direction. Rossfeld Panoramastrasse is a private route near the city centre of Berchtesgaden, and while it’s also reachable by public transport (Bus), you should definitely consider visiting and driving it with your own vehicle. A one of a kind scenic route and the starting point to various outdoor activities such as hiking in summer or skiing in the winter season. You will reach Berchtesgaden after around 2 hours from Munich, and around 30 Minutes from Salzburg, which offers a nice day-trip road trip itinerary.
And, walking in the freshly fallen snow, is there anything better? I love to just listen to the serenity sounds or walking over snow, ah, so nice! Check out this Outdoor-Blog for pictures of an entertaining ski adventure in Berchtesgaden.
As Rossfeld Panoramastrasse in Berchtesgaden is a private road, you have to pay a route toll to drive on it with your own vehicle. As of February 2018, the price per car is 8,00€ (officially “including Driver and Passenger”), motorbikes are priced at 4,50€ with the same amount of max 2 passengers, and the price per Bus including all passengers is 55,00€. If you’re planning on driving the panoramic motorway Rossfeld Panoramastrasse in Berchtesgaden multiple times, you can buy a 10x Ticket for 64€ for cars and 36€ for motorbikes. The collected toll finances the entire costs of maintaining the route, finance new construction and improvements, and also pays for administrative costs. And after my driving adventure during winter at the beginning of February, I was impressed by the good condition of the road with no ice or snow, what made the road smooth to drive. You can find the cash machines at each of the two entrances, the southern toll station near the Obersalzberg (and near Kempinski Hotel) and the northern toll station in Oberau (just follow the directions and you’ll find it easily). However, you can use Roßfeldstrasse B999 83471 Berchtesgaden for your navigation system.
