Alsatian tarte flambée in Paris at Flam’s near Galeries Lafayette

Flam's Paris Alsatian tarte flambée Champignons Onions travelblog

Straight from the gourmet region of Alsace in western France to Paris, on a typical wooden plate to my table. Okay okay, Alsace is not the only gourmet region of France, actually, every region in France is a gourmet region and worldwide known for something special. The Alsace region close to Germany is known for good Wine and the Flammkuchen. Almost similar to Pizza, but for some even better ;-> In Paris I went to Flam’s, a restaurant chain mainly offering Flammkuchen. Many Flammkuchen or Tarte flambée. On the Table next to me 3 people were ordering more than 6 big Flammkuchen, always 2 each fresh out the oven, and shared them each time. What a nice way to enjoy in this culinary delight, by ordering different toppings every time!

A nice change was, compared to basically every other place in France, the staff at Flam’s spoke English! And, they even immediately swapped the french menu into an english one the second I sat down at my table. How nice! Shortly later another friendly lady came to pick up my order. The regular Price for my “La Champignons Frais” (“fresh mushrooms”) is 7,50€, but including a drink I chose the lunch menu for 10€ in total. A nice deal, that you can even get for 15€ including a dessert. Check out their menu in french here to find out what else they offer. As the Alsatian tarte flambée are freshly made, it took quite a while until my baked champignon tarte arrived, but already minutes after ordering my drink arrived. The Champignon tarte flambée is topped with “Fresh Mushrooms of Paris, bacon smoked in beech wood and onions”, as a vegetarian I ordered it without the bacon, lardons in french. Even though it was not the very best tarte flambée I had ever, it was one of the better ones. It was thin, and the mushrooms were generously spread all over the tarte. Check out my other recommendations for restaurants in Paris.
