Apfelstrudel at Hotel Schönblick high above Lake Constance in Vorarlberg Austria

Luckily I was sitting inside behind a huge window while observing the rain rolling in over the lake. From Lindau in Germany, the raincloud moved to Austria until the sky was almost bright again. My Restaurant recommendation for stunning views and decent culinary delights goes to 4 Star Hotel Schönblick in Eichenberg high above Lake Constance in Vorarlberg in Austria. Easy reachable by Car from Bregenz, also by Bus, and nice panoramic views. Isn’t this the essence of all good “Places with a view”? In the late afternoon, the Restaurant at Hotel Schönblick in Eichenberg above Bregenz has been my saviour. Super hungry, and craving something sweet, the sign for fresh Apfelstrudel at the entrance of the Hotel has caught my eyes immediately. By entering I noticed how quiet everything was, and even wondered if they are even open. Soon I heard some voices and just followed them, and ended up at one of their two Restaurants, Restaurant Schönblick. Schönblick translated to English means “nice view” and the name couldn’t be any more suitable. Right after sitting down at my place a waitress came to pick up my order, without bringing a menu. Good that I knew what I wanted, an Apfelstrudel! The Question if I wanted it with Vanilla Sauce, Vanilla ice-cream or whipped cream was simply replied by “all!” and a smile on her part. It took less than 5 minutes and my table was loaded with delicacies. Fresh Cappuccino, the good portion of warm Apfelstrudel in warm vanilla sauce with both a scoop of vanilla ice-cream and whipped cream on the side. Time to indulge! Even though the Strudel wasn’t the very best I’ve ever had, enjoying the view and having a warm and hearty meal satisfied me so much. In the end, I should have only ordered the Apfelstrudel with vanilla sauce and whipped cream, but nevermind. I’ll definitely be back at the Restaurant at Hotel Schönblick, to try their cheese plate of local cheese or their Käsespätzle.
