Balangan Dinner at NENI 25hours Berlin
At the Top of 25hours Berlin, you can overlook parts of Berlin and the Tiergarten while enjoying some delicious Meals. To enjoy the most of the different types of Mezze, order the Balangan Dinner at NENI 25hours Berlin. Balangan means ‘sympathetic chaos’ and allows you to try different flavours and a variety of everything NENI offers. Restaurant NENI is hard to describe, but they call themselves a ‘culinary mosaic of Persian, Moroccan, Spanish and Israeli influences, as diverse and globally minded as the city itself’ what fits just perfectly. Originally from Vienna, they have collaborations with 25hours Hotels in Zurich and Berlin, to serve their delicious meals there as well. They also have a Restaurant in Hamburg, Germany.
NENI at 25hours Berlin is located on the 10th floor and open both to Hotel guests and the public. Hotel Guests have a separate entrance, as the waiting times can be quite long for people just dropping by. There is not only the NENI Restaurant, but the Monkey Bar also offers Drinks and often Live Music Sets while having a view over the monkey area of Berlin Zoo and the Sights nearby, such as the partly destroyed Gedächtniskirche or BIKINI Berlin. Best of NENI – Balangan, includes a whirlwind through Mezze, Main Courses and is followed by a Dessert. The Price per person is 35€, excluding drinks, and it’s definitely more fun when shared with a smaller or larger group of friends. For a refreshing, non-alcoholic drink, I had the NENI’s homemade Limonana with fresh mint, lemon juice and Soda.
The Balangan Dinner started with various Plates of Mezze, placed all over the Table. Everyone had their one plate to eat, with a fork and knife. Check out their Menu Online for an insight into what they offer. As I fell in Love with NENI’s Hummus and Falafel in Zurich and at both their Restaurants in Vienna, at Naschmarkt and Tel Aviv Beach 2010, I was excitingly looking forward to tasting them again. First I had their Hummus in Classic, with Beetroot and with Curry, together with a fresh Pita Bread. The Hummus was creamy and tasty as ever, and as ever I simply could not choose a favourite flavour, as all are just so good. Next, I had a Falafel served with fresh mint and a Har Bracha Tahina sauce. Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed with them as they were SO salty. Probably they made a mistake while preparing and poured the double amount in it, luckily I had a refreshing lemonade. As the main dishes were mainly with meat, like the Jerusalem platter, I stuck to the Caramelised eggplants with ginger and chilli, served with basmati rice and another Falafel. The Dessert was a Pavlova with red fruits. Pavlova is a meringue-based dessert with a crisp crust and a soft inside. If you didn’t know, meringue is made out of egg white and sugar.
All in all, it was a very satisfying, and filling evening with great food, enjoyed in good company. As NENI is very popular in Berlin I can highly recommend booking a Table in advance, either via Telephone or Online on their website.
