On some afternoons, you crave something sweet. A caffeinated afternoon-pick-me-up. In this case, the German tradition of “Kaffee & Kuchen” (Coffe & Cake) in the afternoon, might be your ideal cultural habit. When in Tübingen, strolling around the old city centre and the area nearby my hotel, I stopped b Café L at Karlstrasse. A modern Café with freshly baked good for take-away, or to be eaten inside. The interior is heavy in wood but utilized for a café of this kind. As I wasn’t sure what to order to my black coffee, a muffin or cake, I went for a Brownie. Definitely nothing of German tradition, an apple cake would be more suitable to the tradition and so on, but nevertheless tasty. The good thing about the Brownie was that it’s also easily transportable, as I didn’t finish nearly half of it with my coffee, to enjoy it later on during my train ride back to the very south of Baden-Württemberg, to Lake Constance. As Café L is ideally situated in between the old town and the train station, it’s both suitable for travellers and tourists.
