As a devoted Pizza lover the best that can happen is the possibility to top your Pizza exactly with the ingredients you want. A Pizza Margherita can be amazing, but changing already existing Pizza’s like the Quattro Stagioni can add up to the price so much… So, how was I thrilled as I found out there is a “Built your own” Pizza available at Blaze Pizza! From the sauce to dozens of toppings to sauces to dip the Pizza in, you can choose everything and all you want. During lunchtime shortly after 12 the Blaze Pizza near the Farmers Market and the Grove Open-Air Mall in West Hollywood was already quite popular, but not still not overcrowded.
Upon entering the Blaze Pizza Restaurant I was immediately able to order. As it was my first time ever at Blaze, definitely not my last, the friendly lady explained me the whole concept patiently. For sure I tried out the BYO, the Build your Own Pizza. The Pizza dough was already perfectly shaped, thin with some crust, and ready to be topped. Instead of the typical tomato, I went for a creamy white sauce and topped my Pizza with seasonal squash, mushrooms, zucchini and roasted garlic. What I didn’t realize back then, it were multiple whole roasted garlic cloves and no thinly cut pieces (which I’d have preferred more). Among the available cheeses (Ricotta, Gorgonzola, Goat Cheese, Vegan Cheese, Feta, Parmesan, …) I went for typical Mozzarella. A final sprinkle of Oregano and Salt and my Pizza was ready for the oven. Among the other available options are Applewood Bacon, Crumbled Meatballs, Grilled Chicken, Italian Sausage, Pepperoni, Salame, Smoked Ham, Turkey Meatballs as well as Artichokes, Banana Peppers, Black Olives, Cherry Tomatoes, Fresh Basil, Garlic, Green Bell Peppers, Jalapenos, Kalamata Olives, Pineapple, Red Onions, Roasted Red Peppers, Sauteed Onions and Spinach. There is definitely something for everyone available! Choosing all the “right toppings” might be a bit overwhelming in a busy Restaurant and you’re scared of forgetting something? No worries, you can pre-order your Pizza with exactly everything you want, and even choose if they should prepare it asap or as soon as you enter the Restaurant. So nice, you can do it all from their website.
Just minutes later, and after choosing Buttermilk Ranch as my finish, among Arugula or a Pesto Drizzle, my Pizza was ready. Instead of getting the Pizza on a Plate to eat with cutleries, I received my BYO Pizza at Blaze in a takeaway box. Okay, so much trash, but perfect when moving to their outside sitting area. I didn’t only enjoy eating a Pizza in the sun in Los Angeles, I also adored my own creation and the Pizza by Blaze. The crust was thin and crispy and my toppings were exactly right, except maybe the many garlic cloves, but luckily no one forced me to eat all of them. And after finishing the inner part of my Blaze Pizza it was so nice to dip the crust in the Ranch Dressing. That day I haven’t had breakfast and was quite hungry, and the size of the Pizza was optimal, a side salad would have been just too much in my case. Fast and friendly service, a Pizza exactly by your wishes which tastes super delicious, all my thumbs up for Blaze Pizza by the Farmers Market at The Grove Los Angeles!
