Fortress Experience Dresden – multimedia museum in the former fortress

Fortress Xperience Dresden – a totally different way to experience a museum. Access to the fortress Experience Dresden is only through an elevator on the Brühl Terrace which is overlooking the beautiful Elbe river. Here you will catch the last glance at the Elbe and Dresden-Neustadt before descending deep into the history of Dresden. The Dresden fortress was once considered to be the most modern fortress in Europe, the part that is still accessible today was known as the “Dresden fortifications” (Dresdner Befestigungsanlagen) once built from 1546 onwards. And mere 450 years later visitors can proceed on a multimedia tour through history. Led by a personal audioguide device, as a visitor will experience 360-degree projections and interactive experiences, and learn about Duke Maurice and the living conditions at that time, especially as a soldier in the fortress of Dresden.  Plan at least a full hour for the visit, if not 80+ minutes.
Originally opened as Fortress Museum Dresden in 1992, the museum can momentarily only be visited as an “experience”.

The price for the Fortress Experience Dresden is 10 euros per adult, however, there was a combined ticket with the Zwinger Experience “1719 the wedding of the century” for a total of only 11 euros (instead of 13 euros) per person.
