If you want to stay overnight in Paris and are looking for a good hotel that is also affordable and well situated, you might as well want to play the lottery. A good location and a reasonably decent price can rarely be combined for hotels, especially not in Paris. That’s what I thought until this stay in the city of love, before I got to know the 3-star Hotel Beaugrenelle Saint-Charles nearby Eiffel Tower.

Just as I turn on foot into my destination street, Rue de Saint Charles, I catch sight of the Hotel Beaugrenelle Saint Charles on the left-hand side of the street and at the end of the street I really do see it, the Eiffel Tower. With the Charles Michels metro station directly across the street, passing through a market and with restaurants and cafes in view, I enter the hotel. At check-in, I was told that the hotel also had its own parking spaces, but my car was already well parked. Otherwise, check-in was quick and I reached my room on the third floor via the rather small lift. Once out of the lift and turned right, I was already standing in front of my room, 301, which is officially a double room.

I opened the door and discovered a room of 9m², which is large enough by Parisian standards, at least for me as a single traveling person. The room was equipped with a mirrored wardrobe (which I filled well on my own), a flat-screen TV, a desk and chair, a trouser-ironing machine, a shelf for my suitcase, a stool and a large window overlooking a quiet but restaurant-kitchen-scented backyard.
The bathroom was clean and felt large enough. It had a shower, a hairdryer, enough towels and soap as well as shampoo and shower gel.
What I was missing in the room was, for example, a small fridge, which probably wouldn’t have found any space because the bathroom door touched the large double bed when opening and closing.

Hotel Beaugrenelle Saint-Charles Paris is very centrally located. There are numerous shopping possibilities and restaurants/cafes directly in front of the house and through my backyard window I also had no loud background noise, only unfortunately kitchen smells in the evening which always made me very hungry… The staff at the hotel spoke good English and free WiFi was offered for two devices per room.
The price/performance ratio is perfect and I would spend one or more nights at the Hotel Beaugrenelle Saint-Charles Paris happily again.

Note: When I booked the hotel, in May, and stayed in June of 2014, it was still a 2-star hotel, in the meantime it is now advertised as a 3-star hotel on the website.
