One of Frank Gehry’s masterpieces, the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. Celebrating the 20th anniversary this year, the museum and its architecture is still more up-to-date than ever. Frank Gehry is an American-Canadian architect, who designed buildings such as the Dancing House in Prague, Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles or the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris. In Fact, the opening of Guggenheim Bilbao, and it’S outstanding structure, transformed Bilbao in a cultural hotspot. I just happened to have time for a quick visit to Guggenheim Bilbao, but I’ll be definitely back to explore everything. There are three levels in the museum, with temporary and permanent exhibitions.
Right when approaching the Guggenheim Museum, and its main entrance, you are greeted by a gigantic 13m high puppy. It’s the flower covered ‘Bilbao Puppy’ by Artist Jeff Koons. The US-American is one of my favourite artists, and there is even a second one at the Guggenheim Bilbao, his piece ‘Tulips’. Probably his mast famous work is the Balloon Dog, that I’m sure you’ve already seen.
