At Breweries you get the best Beer, and at their own restaurants the best Food? When I was visiting Scheidegg in the Allgäu Region of Bavaria I went to a place I heard just good things about, and tried it myself: Restaurant Meckatzer Bräustüble in Meckatz, Heimenkirch (Allgäu). It’s the breweries own Restaurant, for more than 275 years. Besides having the Meckatzer Löwenbräu Beer as fresh as it can be they are open Tuesday to Sunday and are offering regional specialties.
What really surprised me, in a definitely positive way, is how modern this “old” Place is. Each of their Rooms has it’s own Charm, just check out their garden pavilion, and the interior is partly really old and partly really new but totally fitting in. Another surprise was that they are offering free WiFi inside and they also have a charging station for electric bikes and scooters outside. Considering all this in a small town with less than 4000 inhabitants, in Bavaria, it is really something huge!
Their menu is separated in two parts, one seasonal fall menu, and one with smaller dishes that are available all year round. How could it be different, I’ve chosen the Kässpätzle with a side salad for 9,60 € (only to have a good comparison, you know..) and they were good. The Spätzle seem to be cooked for a little too long, but their Cheese was really good and the side salad as well so it’s definitely a dish I can recommend. Being so modern on one side they are not offering that many vegetarian meals, but as their menu is anyway not that big there were still a few meat-free dishes to choose from.
