Stuttgart’s Municipal Library, the Stadtbibliothek am Mailänder Platz, looks rather unimpressive from the outside, but is a pure architectural highlight inside. Completed in 2011 this 9-storey building stands for a new intellectual and cultural centre in Stuttgart. Inside the Library individual areas can be found, a children’s library, music library, study rooms and a Café. The Roof Terrace is accessible and grants view over Stuttgart. The interior is mainly held in white, creating a bright and friendly atmosphere. The inspiration for this was taken from Étienne-Louis Boullée’s French National Library of the 18 century. The costs of the Building were overall € 79.000.000. Everyone is welcome to visit the Library and spent time there and if you want to borrow some media, kids under the age of 18 can do that for free. When I visited the Stuttgart Municipal Library I couldn’t find a way up, so below a few Pictures from Instagram, from other visitors.

[…] Europaviertel. I could have also taken the Underground to “Stadtbibliothek“, I already wrote about Stuttgart’s Municipal Library, but it is just one station from the main train station so I rather walked and enjoyed Stuttgart. […]
