Veggie Portobello Mushroom Burger by Patty&Bun London

The Patty&Bun London Burger has to be the best vegetarian burger I have ever had! The best things happen unexpectedly and surprising, right? While walking around the Marylebone area of London, I was actually planning on hitting up an Asian chain restaurant, for some Ramen and/or Bao, ahead of my visit to the Wallace Collection. As I was checking for directions on my mobile navigation app, I suddenly came across this restaurant: Patty&Bun. It had good reviews, so, sure, why not giving it a try. Before walking into their restaurant, I have had no previous idea on how tiny it is. Apparently, the Patty&Bun London Marylebone Restaurant only hosts 31 chairs inside, with just a few more outside. Like a hole in the wall for Burgers. Luckily I had the choice of two unoccupied double-tables, at 12:20! Perfect timing… During the course of my visit others had to leave due to no seating availability. But you can order your food for takeaway though, or get it delivered via deliveroo or City Pantry!

Veggie Burger at Patty&Bun London

The selection of Burgers at Patty&Bun is not ”enormous”, but rather well-selected. You can check out their food & drinks menu here online. They even have quite a pleasant choice of meat-free options! Among those, I went for the vegetarian (not vegan) Portobello Dig It Mushroom Burger for £ 9 (10,67 €). According to the menu, you will get a braised field mushroom fritter, garlic parsley butter, cheese sauce, coleslaw, lettuce and tarragon mayo on a brioche bun. Check out their full menu online here: pattyandbun.co.uk/menu.
Including tap water and a customary service fee of 12,5%, my bill came to just over £ 10 (12,01 €). Sure, you can literally get burgers at McDonald’s for a buck, but oh my word has my portobello Burger been delicious! It was definitely worth every penny!

Unfortunately, I can’t pinpoint one ingredient of the Portobello Dig It Mushroom Burger to be THE best, as the burger as a whole just tasted heavily good. The soft yet toasted bun, the crispy filled mushroom with its cheesy filling, the sauce, the other toppings – definitely the most excellent assembled burger! And it was a veggie burger, nonetheless! It’s quite hard to come across a delicious a truly delicious veggie burger!

Review of my lunchtime visit to Patty&Bun London

I can definitely recommend Patty&Bun London, and will definitely try all their other meat-free burgers as well in the near future! Besides a few branches across London, they also call Brighton their home. If you plan on visiting, too, make sure you come at the ”right time”, or order for takeaway and enjoy your lunch/dinner on some nearby bench.
Tipp: you can enjoy any of their Burgers ”veggie”, as you can swap the existing patty, with no further charge, to either a fried cheese fritter or plant-based patty. How amazing!
