Hotel in Skopje City Centre | Review

Staying at this Hotel in Skopje has been the absolute best decision! When booking a short city getaway, you want your hotel to have an ideal location. To be in the centre of everything, to have short walking distances, to be connected to the city, and not in some suburb or heartless airport hotel. I made the right decision in Skopje by staying at Hotel De Koka. It’s located in the city’s centre, north of the river Vardar, just nearby the historic market and Mustafa-Pascha-Mosque. During the time of my stay, in February 2020, the price was just 30 Euros a night including breakfast. What a stellar deal! Nonetheless, my room was super spacious, for a single-occupancy room, with a nice view towards Vodno and the famous illuminated cross.

Review: staying at De KOKA Hotel in Skopje

My arrival at De Koka Hotel in Skopje has been hassle-free. It’s located adjacent to an open-air parking space, which allows easy unloading of a Taxi. For sure you could also take the Airport Bus, which requires a stroll from the nearest station to the Hotel. But I did not want to do that this late in the evening. Upon check-in at 10 pm, the receptionist has been super friendly and well fluent in English. This has been kind of a worry for me, on this solo travel to North Macedonia, because of the language barrier, but this pleasant experience gave me a good feeling at the start of this research trip. Hint: North Macedonia is a great country for a getaway if you don’t want to go to a mass tourism area. However, my room at De KOKA Hotel in Skopje definitely surprised me. It was more than spacious, equipped with everything you need, plus a nice view over to the famous illuminated Millenium Cross at mountain Vono. A highly recommended Hotel in Skopje!

Complimentary Breakfast the next day was served in the in-house breakfast room. It offers plenty of seating and a large buffet. You can find plenty of meat and cheese, spreads, juices, hard-boiled eggs, olives, cornflakes and a coffee machine. Once I chose my favourites the first morning, I had them on repeat. Ayvar as a spread, as well as feta cheese, cucumbers and a slice of toasted bread. Always washed down with a cup of coffee and a glass of juice. Enough to venture out to the city and be hungry enough by noon to discover a new exciting Restaurant in Skopje for every meal. Breakfast is served daily from 8 am until 10 am.
