Situated right on the foot of the massive Monte San Salvatore, Hotel ibis Lugano is in a perfect location. In a lovely neighbourhood, just very few minutes by foot to the lake, within another few minutes you are either at the train station, or the station to take the funicular up the mountain, you have a grocery shop nearby, just as well as several restaurants and panificerias/pasticcerias. Indeed, a perfect location for a tourist to stay. Another big advantage, of course, is the ibis itself. As part of Accorhotels, a huge french hotel group, as a hotel guest, you are getting the same level of service and amenities at literally every ibis hotel. Of course ibis, Lugano Paradiso was no exception. However, as I haven’t stayed at a red ibis in quite a long time (green is ibis styles and blue ibis budget), I was quite surprised. Upon check-in, I found a self-serving water dispenser for cucumber-flavoured water, something you sometimes don’t even have at “better” than 2-star hotels.

When booking my hotel room for this one night stay in Lugano, I asked if it’s possible to get a “quiet room with a nice view ;)”. My room number 724 was located on the 7th floor, easily accessible via a lift, and right on the opposite of the hallway coming from the elevator. Just seconds after opening the door to my room I noticed that they completely fulfilled my wish. I had a prime view of the top of Monte San Salvatore. Wow.

I can absolutely recommend the ibis Lugano Paradiso, for both leisure and business travellers. The location is ideal, parking is available under the hotel, the amenities convenient and the breakfast buffet sufficient. I will definitely return to this hotel in the (near) future.
