Inside the Volkswagen Crafter Factory in Września, Poland

Volkswagen Crafter Factory Wrzesnia Poland

Once in awhile, you have to do something you haven’t done before. So, I joined Volkswagen in Poland for the Opening Ceremony of their new Crafter Factory. Actually, it’s the most modern car factory in Europe for the most modern transporter on the market. The new factory in Wrzesnia near Poznan in Polan will exclusively build the transporter Crafter.

Up to 3,000 people will work in the Volkswagen Crafter factory in Września, in a 3 shift operation. Thus, in the future, 17 units per hour will leave the assembly line. However, this number of units, which will be around 100,000 vehicles a year, will not be achieved until 2018. Until then, the production processes will be fully set up and optimized in 2017. In 2017, 50,000 about vehicles will be produced. The identical MAN TGE is produced on the same assembling lines to reduce costs and improve the utilization rate. Visually, the MAN TGE is really hardly distinguishable from the Crafter.

The Crafter is offered in 2 different heights and in 3 different lengths. Various superstructures and specifications are already installed and built-in at the factory. This results in a total of 69 different derivatives, making the Crafter fit for every possible use.
