Activities to take in the Orange capital Burriana near Valencia

Have you ever heard about the Orange capital Burriana? Located an hour’s drive from Valencia, Burriana at the Spanish coast, is a huge orange harvest region. Most of the exported Spanish oranges are from this orange country. Besides driving by the hundreds and thousands of orange trees, you can take specific Orange Activities both in Burriana and Valencia.
The season for Oranges in Valencia is usually from October until May, this is the time when the Oranges are fresh, harvested and sold all over Europe and probably even further. Already in April and May, it’s time for the orange trees to blossom again when the entire Orange Blossom Coast smells of orange blossom. The orange blossom is used for perfumes, honey, salads and bride’s bouquets if the marriage is taking place in this season. Therefore Spring is an ideal time to visit Valencia and to take a day trip to Burriana, to explore and indulge in the freshest oranges. Tip: the smaller oranges are usually a bit sweeter and juicier than the huge ones 😉 If you buy fresh oranges during a Trip to Valencia / Burriana, and you don’t solely want to eat or squeeze all of them, you can also try and turn them into liqueurs, marmalade, tea and sweet desserts such as cakes or cookies.
