ÖBB RailJet Trains are connecting Austria, from one end to the other. One of those lines is frequently running several times a day, from Bregenz in Vorarlberg (in western Austria) to Vienna, the capital city of the country, all the way in the east. Recently I have taken this RailJet Train from Bregenz in Vorarlberg to Innsbruck in Tyrol, on my way to South Tyrol in Italy (yep, I love how easy breezy train travel in Europe is!). Years ago I took a similar train, but in the evening when it was already pitch-black outside – therefore I was quite excited to travel this picturesque route again during the day. For my outbound journey, from Bregenz to Innsbruck, I have chosen the ÖBB RailJet 2nd class economy. I booked the return journey in first-class business, to enjoy the differences in both available classes.
The RailJet is a one-story train, featuring two classes, 2nd economy as well as 1st business. 2nd class features a 2-2 configuration, each in bench-like double seats or quadruples with tables. Dual seats feature each a foldable table (spacious enough for a laptop or handbag), as well as a shared electronics plug in between both positions. Later onward during the journey, I took advantage of the rolling service and ordered a coffee. 3 Euros for a freshly brewed beverage, definitely not a bad deal.
Below you find some pictures of my train journey in Austria with ÖBB, Austrian Federal Railways.
