Qatar Airways Business Class Passengers enjoy complimentary Lounge Access prior to their Flight. Airport Lounges are ideal to refresh before a flight, get work done, catch up and prepare the on-going journey. In Munich, there is no designated Qatar Airways Business Lounge at Munich Airport, however, Qatar Airways passengers can access the British Airways Galleries Lounge in Terminal 1. It’s a bit of a maze to find the Lounge, however, after clearing the security checks go left and walk until you see both the Exit and Business Lounge Signs, pointing in the exact same direction. Take now the elevator, or stairs, one level up (Level 3) and walk until the end of the hallway, there you will find the entrance to British Airways Business Lounge in Munich. Upon entering, you show your boarding pass and as a Qatar Airways Business Class Passenger this is all that needs to be done, no further “please show us your frequent traveller card” or anything else, very nice.
The brownish colour scheme inside the “Qatar Airways Business Lounge at Munich Airport” looks classy and sleek, with a working-area with computers, lots of plugs to charge your devices along the walls, and many lounge chairs with tiny tables. It is definitely a Lounge to relax for a short period of time, not hours and hours at a time. However, the Drink selection definitely succeeded the Food selection, with several alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and a huge coffee machine for anything from Espresso to Black Coffee, Cappuccino or simply hot water for a cup of tea. The food area, there are tables in every direction of the room with drinks, hot drinks, food, offered a small selection of Croissants, small pieces of cake, sandwiches and what looked like Chicken Nuggets. Personally, I went with an Orange Juice, several Latte Macchiato glasses of Tea and a Croissant. Luckily I knew some delicious Food was waiting for me on my Flight. As a little side note, the restrooms aren’t “inside” the Lounge, you basically have to exit it, walk the alleyway back towards the elevator, and you’ll find male and female bathrooms.
As the Lounge was quite packed when I arrived, at around 2 pm, I haven’t taken more Pictures to respect the other travellers’ privacy. However, Alvin, a Young Traveler of Hong Kong, visited the Lounge back in 2017 when it was dead empty, a great opportunity for plenty of pictures. And as Alvin already suggested, it’s always recommended to arrive way ahead of time at Munich Airport Terminal 1 (Terminal 2 is somehow more structured), as everything is so confusing and you can lose lots of time looking where to go next. However, I liked the Lounge, Wifi is free and the power sockets worked, and it was great to have a warming tea before heading off.
