You won’t find big brands in the city, from the usual big drug store chains or cheap clothing shops. Therefore it’s positively surprising to find Poké Bowls in Biberach, even vegan ones! Eat Happy is a sushi take-away chain operating out of existing Rewe supermarkets. You can find them all across Germany, such as in Hamburg or Friedrichshafen. Their offer ranges from algae salads to Mochi, and a wide selection of sushi rolls and mixed sushi plates. One of their latest offers are Poké Bowls.

Poké Bowls originate from the US island state Hawaii. Their base is usually plain rice, topped with raw or grilled/cooked proteins as well as raw fruit and veggies. The vegan Poke Bowl in Biberach an der Riss consisted of a Rice base and was topped with Avocado, Mango, Apples, Seaweed Salad, Edamame beans, cucumber, bell pepper as well as slices of tofu you might know from Inari Sushi in those sweet tofu pockets. A sesame dip was included in the price of 8.50 Euro for this take-away bowl. The price is definitely justified for the size of the bowl, for lunch it was even a bit too much for me.. I had quite a bit of leftover rice as I wanted to enjoy all of the fresh toppings. For an extra tangy taste, I added a bit of Hoi Sin Sauce which made everything taste even better. I can definitely recommend the Eat Happy Poke Bowl in Biberach an der Riss and will definitely eat it again. As the powls and sushi boxes are prepared fresh every day, it’s recommended to drop by Eat Happy at the Rewe at the train station in the morning or at noon, to still have a chance of being able to purchase one of the bowls.
