On my Qatar Airways Flight from Munich to Doha I was able to experience the Boeing 787 Dreamliner for the very first time. It wasn’t solely my very first flight with a Dreamliner, it was also my very first flight with the Airline Qatar Airways. Before my first ever flight with Qatar Airways I had so many questions, ranging from how will it be and what can I expect? Based in Doha in Qatar the Airline now serves multiple dozens of destinations worldwide, whilst being a convenient hub from travels between North America & Europe and South Africa, Asia and Oceania. The Flight from Munich to Doha is a medium haul flight, with a flight time of under 6 hours. Read here more about my Experience in Qatar Airways Economy Class.
Disclaimer: I only paid Taxes & Fees for this Flight with Qatar Airways. This did not affect my opinion.
Qatar Airways Economy Class Flight from Munich to Doha – at the Airport & Boarding
Qatar Airways is flying from Terminal 1 at Munich Airport, personally, one of my least-favourite Airports as it always feels so unorganized and even though I’ve been there quite a few times, I still feel lost and I never know what direction I have to go. This resulted in almost not making it to the Qatar Airways baggage drop-off at Munich Airport whilst the time for boarding was coming closer and closer. After asking several Airport Staff I finally found the drop-off, which wasn’t located near the boarding gate, and could proceed my travel. Luckily the security checks went fast and I still had some time to refresh before the 5:35 h long flight from Munich to Doha. Upon baggage drop-off, I was already handed both boarding passes, for my Flight to Doha and from Doha to Adelaide, Australia, for a smooth transfer in Doha. Boarding for my flight began on time, with Business Class boarding the Boeing 787-900 Dreamliner by Qatar Airways first, followed by all the Economy Class passengers. Thanks to queueing in line on time I was one of the first to board the plane, and the friendly staff immediately told me how to find my place. 32C it was, in the back of the plane.
Qatar Airways Economy Class Flight from Munich to Doha – at the seat
The cabin felt airy and the Qatar Airways signature colours grey and purple created a cosy atmosphere. The Dreamliner by Boeing is created for comfortable travel in all classes, with a special conditioning system, dimming windows and larger seats. In comparison to Lufthansa’s economy class, where 10 people sit in a 3-4-3 configuration per row, there are only 9 at the Boeing 787-900 Dreamliner by Qatar Airways in a 3-3-3 configuration. This also helps the airy feeling inside and avoids feeling cramped in a small Sardine box. Upon boarding, you already find a pillow and a blanket on every seat, headphones were distributed later in the boarding process. You can use these items during the flight, but they have to be returned before landing/leaving the aircraft! As the air condition was constantly cooling the cabin down, the thin blanket kept me warm and was highly appreciated.
Qatar Airways Economy Class Flight from Munich to Doha – In-Flight Entertainment
On their flights with entertainment on board, Qatar Airways uses their own ORYX ONE System. Hundreds of Movies, TV Shows and Music are available at just one gentle fingertip on the separate controller, offering plenty of entertainment for even the longest flights. Besides having only a big touchscreen, there is an individual controller available for every seat, to switch between programs or adjusting the volume. Thanks to this the person behind you will less likely hammer on their screen, to select anything.
Qatar Airways Economy Class Flight from Munich to Doha – Meal Service / Food & Drinks
Meal service in Economy Class started approximately 1 hour after departure, while drinks were constantly distributed during the flight. As a vegetarian, I pre-ordered an Ovo-Lacto-Vegetarian meal, free of charge, and received the same time everyone else received their food tray.
My Experience on the Economy Class Qatar Airways Flight in a Boeing 787 Dreamliner from Munich to Doha
All in all my Flight with Qatar Airways in Economy Class has been a pleasant experience. The Flight from Munich to Doha felt quicker than it actually was, with it’s 5 and a half hours, thanks to the entertainment on board, and keeping the passengers busy with food and drinks, what all resulted in a very enjoyable journey. The comfort on board was very good, the seats felt comfortable and the headrest was just amazing, and I can’t wait to play around with the new dimming windows the Boeing 787-900 Dreamliner features, on another flight. For information on upcoming flight deals, I can recommend the Qatar Airways newsletter, that I already receive since 2016. Check it out, and subscribe, here.
