Travel Diary: St. Gallen in Winter
Depending on the season, Cities can turn into something completely different. In Summer 2015 I visited St. Gallen in Switzerland for the first time. The sun was shining like there was no tomorrow and it was just boiling hot. Yes, also in Switzerland there is summer! Back then I was more or less rushing from one shadow to another, and finally spending some time at Dreilinden Ponds to cool down again. Now recently it was time for my second visit to St. Gallen, in November during the Winter Season. When you’re thickly packed up with a scarf, beanie, gloves and a warm jacket, you think about other things. And see things a bit differently. But both seasons are charming and I could not choose a ‘best time to visit St. Gallen in Switzerland‘, so what about every season? Carnival at the End of winter, the traditional OLMA fair every 2 Years in Summer, St. Gallen is always worth a stay and visit.
After my Guided City Tour in St. Gallen in Summer, here now Impressions of my Walk around St. Gallen in late November. When it gets dark earlier than you wish for, but, luckily, the Town absolutely deserves the title ‘Sternenstadt St. Gallen‘, with 700 Stars dancing illuminated above the streets. It’s a magical season and even nicer with a hot drink from their Christmas Market and a St. Galler Biber in Hand.
