Already when the Mercedes-Benz CLA was first launched in 2013 I fell in love. A smaller car with sexy proportions that can be either a race car or a business-appropriate one. A Car for individualists that don’t want to catch too much attention. Check out the Gallery I shot back in Summer 2013 with a CLA 200 Sedan. In July Mercedes-Benz went on a #urbanDiscovery Roadtrip across Europe with several Influencers for the Launch of the CLA Facelift. They started in Milan, drove to Paris, to Antwerp, to Amsterdam and to Berlin. Luckily I was able to join the Crew in Amsterdam and to drive the final leg to Berlin with them. Below you can find many Impressions of the Car, in the following Berlin and Amsterdam Categories you will be able to read more about what I’ve done and experienced along the #UrbanDiscovery Trip.
Discovering Amsterdam with the Mercedes-Benz CLA 250 Sport
Amsterdam, worldwide known as a City of Bikes, is actually pretty great to drive by Car. What you should note when driving by Car in Amsterdam is that Bikes drive everywhere! Sure, there are lines specifically for Bikes, but sometimes they do not stick to them. Plus, in the Netherlands Scooters are allowed to drive on them as well. So better look twice to avoid any incidents! After I realised that driving around was even smoother, and the suspension of the Car was very gentle on the cobblestones and uneven paths. In Amsterdam itself we drove around to find some cool Photo-Locations for Car-Shootings. A true classic could not be missed with our 2 CLA-Cars, the i Amsterdam sign at Museumplein in front of the Rijksmuseum. We Photobombed hundreds of tourists, and then they photobombed us. So many posed with the Cars and wanted to take them on a Spin. Understandable… Another Photo-Location was IJdok, surrounded by water. Actually even without a Car it seems like a cool place to hang around, with cafés and restaurants, and possibilities for bike rentals. On the other side of the IJ there is the NDSM-werf with the NDSM-pier. A great urban location with graffiti and a flea market. Another alternative to get around Amsterdam will be the Mercedes-Benz Future Bus, in a few Years.
#urbanDiscovery Roadtrip with the Mercedes-Benz CLA from Amsterdam to Berlin
After the urban discoveries in Amsterdam, languishing over the great architecture, dining at cool Restaurants and having a blast with the Crew, it was time to leave the City. Sunday was Roadtrip-Day! Our CLA 250 Sport in cirrus white was filled with our luggage as well a few snacks and drinks. Amsterdam Streets were calm and uncommonly quiet, but we already had the windows down and blasting the iTunes Top 100 Charts. Time went by quickly and the CLA 250 was killing kilometers in a second. Maybe because of the unlimited speed limits once we passed the border and hit the german autobahn. I was on the passenger seat as we hit the CLA Top-Speed of 245 km/h. It felt like cruising mode, but I liked the still aggressive-like acceleration of the Car. We had the ‘CLA Estate’, the Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake. Even though it’s like a small family wagon the acceleration is fast, and due to the nice exterior design details it looks like a trained body in a business suit. Loved that! You can read more on the Trip on www.mrgoodlife.net/en/. As I’ve shared previously, the Mercedes-Benz GLE might be as well a nice Roadtrip Car.
Discovering Berlin with the Mercedes-Benz CLA Facelift
After more than 660 km in the Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake, I stepped out of the Car as if we just returned from a little joy ride. The Seats were so comfortable, I could have continued the Trip in a minute.
