italian Lunch at Vapiano Doha, Qatar

Enjoy international food for an Italian Lunch at Vapiano Doha. What started out as a franchise boom in Germany, has also found a home in the sunny Arabian Peninsula. For several years now, two Vapiano can be found in Doha, the capital city of the state of Qatar. For my lunch, I went to their Westbay location at The Gate Mall, as it was conveniently located in close proximity to my Hotel, the Intercontinental West Bay.

How eating at Vapiano works

Vapiano is a self-service Restaurant. Also a reason why Vapiano is, was, so popular. You find different booths in a Vapiano Restaurant, each for a different kind of Food. A counter for salads and antipasti, a counter for Pasta, a counter for Pizza and a counter and bar for sweets and hot beverages.

Upon entering the Restaurant, you get a plastic card. This card enables you to charge everything you order on this card. When leaving, you pay the balance of the card. Super convenient, as you don’t need to pay whenever you order something from a counter!

When visiting Vapiano as a group, everyone will get a card, but it is possible to charge all orders on one card.

What Vapiano Doha offers in Qatar

The general offer at Vapiano is Italian, sometimes with a more modern twist. You can find Salads, Antipasti, as well as Pizza,  Pasta, Risotto, Lasagna and sweets and caffeinated hot drinks. For their full menu, visit their website here.

For my lunch in Doha, I wanted a Salad. Even though temperatures haven’t been that high during my visit, I still wanted something refreshing. So, a classic it was for me, the Cesare Salad for 46 QR (about 12,95 Euros). This salad consists only of Romana salad, croutons and Grana Padano D.O.P. Cheese, and a dressing of choice. I went for a creamy Caesar dressing of course. Even though you usually get (or can ask for) complimentary slices of bread with your salad, I wanted something a bit more, and went for Bruschetta al Formaggio for 19 Qatari riyal (about 5,35 Euros). Those are Ciabatta bread topped with garlic oil and mozzarella.

All in all, a lot of bread (croutons, complimentary bread, bruschetta), but I enjoyed my meal. Everyone spoke perfect English at Vapiano Doha, and I felt as at home as at all the other Vapiano I previously visited, in Munich or London for example. Definitely, a recommendation, if you crave something Italian in Doha.
