Travel Diary: 24h in Rome in May

Having just 24 hours in Rome is way too short! Even though a stay in Rome should be as long as ever possible I tried to do my best and explore as much as possible. Due to an Event I already had most of my time occupied but in the early afternoon and later in the evening I happily found some spare time to explore and wander the eternal city.

Straight from my Hotel, the Mariott Grand Hotel Flora, from which you can overlook Villa Borghese, a famous park, I started my explorations. Passing a few streets, and walking a longer one, and after a few minutes, I reached, the famous Spanish Steps in Rome. Piazza di Spagna on the bottom of the steps was crowded and it seemed that every single person was taking pictures with a selfie stick. What a coincidence, as they were sold all over. Did you know that the well-known authors John Keats and Percey Shelley once lived right next to the steps? Keats-Shelley House is now a museum and open to the public. To learn more, in the past, I shared another Article about the Spanish Steps during Day and Night.

From the Spanish steps/Piazza di Spagna, it would have been just another short walk over to Piazza del Popolo but my time was running and I had to head back to the Hotel. Luckily in the evening I again found some time to walk over to the famous Steps in Rome. Then the area was definitely less crowded, and in the side streets, people were enjoying their Dinner outside. For sure I had to end this second visit to the Spanish Steps in Rome with a Gelato, before leaving early the other Day. 24 hours in Rome are like nothing…
