The former Best Western Continental Hotel now B&B Hotel Como City Center is my secret tip for overnight stays at Lake Como. It’s no surprise Lago di Como ranks among the most beautiful places in Italy, hence Hotel Rooms are also unsurprisingly rather expensive. Personally, when looking for accommodation at a new destination two factors play an important role when deciding on where to stay for me, the location and the price. You can definitely get a Hotel at a great location, but also the price will be high, so it’s really quite a challenge sometimes to find the hotel in a great location for a reasonable price. To free you from having to do the extensive research yourself, just take this one tip: stay at the B&B Hotel Como City Center, formerly known as Best Western Hotel Continental in Como!
As I have now seen, while booking yet another stay at this Hotel, is that they have undertaken extensive renovations and refurbishments. Also, the Hotel is now not Hotel Continental or Best Western Continental Hotel Como anymore, it’s now part of B&B Hotels. The formerly typical Italian 3-star hotel decor has been flipped into modern and more timeless esthetics. I definitely can’t wait for my forthcoming, now 3rd, stay at this place! So, this Review seems kind of pointless. However, the location is still great and as I’ve seen the prices are still very reasonable, I can definitely recommend the Hotel as it has been, and soon I will write another Hotel Review on how the Hotel has hopefully changed to the positive. Below you will now find some pictures of both my stays at Best Western Continental Hotel Como before refurbishment, back in 2013 and 2014.
Both times I have stayed at the Hotel to attend Concorso d’Eleganza in Cernobbio. Both times I have arrived by car, however, the train station Como S. Giovanni (which you will pass on the Zurich to Lugano/Milano Route) is only 350 m away from the Hotel. B&B Hotel Como City Center can therefore be recommended if you are either arriving by direct Train from Zurich, Basel or Milan or if you arriving by taxi from a nearby airport or with your own car. There is a limited amount of parking spaces right in front of the Hotel, with plenty more along the street. There are also many restaurants nearby, the shores of Lake Como are also an easy walking distance of less than 1 km away. Due to the close proximity, you will also be graned with stunning views of the mountains and Brunate, as seen below!
