Frecciabianca Train to Venice, from Milan – Trip Report

Frecciabianca E.414 train in Milano Centrale

The Frecciabianca Train connects Venice with Milan. In just 2:35 hours you can Travel from the Lombardian Metropol City Milan to the floating city of Venice. Of course with Stops in other Cities on the way, Brescia, Desenzano Del Garda-Sirmione, Verona Porta Nuova, Vicenza, Padova, Venezia Mestre and Venezia S. Lucia as a final station. Tickets can be purchased at the Trenitalia Ticket Offices or Vending Machines (take the Trenitalia ones, not the Italo) or Online. It’s also possible to buy them via the Trenitalia App. When purchasing the ticket online, what I did, make sure to check for possible discounts! As I’m a holder of a German ‘Bahn Card’ I can benefit from the Rail Plus Discounts and paid just 27€ one-way with a 25% discount. When buying your tickets at the Train Station, make sure to validate the ticket by stamping it at the machines that are (usually) mounted at the front of every Gate.

From the outside, the Frecciabianca Train looked rather old. The electric locomotive, an E.414N, was once built from 1994 to 1996 but were refurbished in 2007. Once they drove up to 250 km/h per hour, now just 200 km/h as maximum speed. And wow, they now look so good inside – I was astonished! New seats that looked very clean, large fold-out tables that can easily hold a Laptop or bigger Bag and each two power sockets per double-seats. The seats were comfortable and made the 2:35 hour Journey easy and even enjoyable. Trains are my absolute favourite way of Transport, especially in Italy. For Day Trips or Train-Trips (Roadtrips but by more ecological Trains), they allow you to enjoy the moment of Travel way more than having to drive by yourself. I will definitely consider the Frecciabianca Train to Venice, from Milan, for further Trips and Day Trips in northern Italy. Another possibility to Travel between Milan and Venice are the long-distance busses by FlixBus; I will write about my Travel Experience with it soon.
